About
I'm Chad Mathews — a serial creative using AI to build things that fall inside my creative skill set but outside my technical ability. Over the last couple of years that's meant a 2D action game built in Godot, a business assessment app, a fly-tying app's entire marketing operation, and the content system that runs it. I'm not a developer, and I've never pretended to be one.
One thing worth being clear about: I'm not shipping retail software. I understand the risks well enough to know better. I build things I want to see and use personally — and when something touches other people, it goes through staging, security checklists, and deliberate paranoia first.
None of that worked because AI is magic. Most of it almost didn't work at all. It worked because I treat AI the way a studio treats a team — with decision logs, session protocols, documented lessons, and verification gates. The tools keep changing. The discipline is what transfers.
That's what this site is: the field notes. Every article is extracted from a working document inside a real project — a production rule that got locked after a costly mistake, a protocol that exists because its absence burned a week. The source stamp on each note tells you exactly where it came from.
If you're building something real with AI — especially if you're not a developer either — these notes are for you.
